Sling Orange vs Sling Blue: what actually differs

Short answer: the price isn't the decision. Both plans are $45.99/mo as of 2026-07-19. Orange is built around ESPN and the Disney-owned channels; Blue is built around Fox News, USA Network, FX, and the NFL Network. 13 of the 45 channels we track are on both, so the two tiers overlap more than the "Orange or Blue" branding suggests.

All 45 channels this site tracks, checked against both services as of 2026-07-19. Add-on-only carriage (a channel that needs a paid genre pack on top of the base plan) is marked "No" here. It's called out separately in the text below; this table is the base-plan answer only. Verify on each provider's own channel-lineup page before you sign up, since carriage changes and can vary by zip code for local channels.

Where they actually differ

Sling splits its lineup into two tiers, and the split is real, but it isn't the Turner-network split some people expect. TNT and TBS are on both Orange and Blue at the same price. The one Turner-family network that's actually tier-specific is truTV, Blue-only. The real split is elsewhere: Orange carries the ESPN family (ESPN, ESPN2) and the Disney-owned channels (Disney Channel among them), single-stream only. Blue carries Fox News, USA Network, FX, NFL Network, MSNBC, CNBC, E!, FS1, Syfy, TLC, Bravo, and National Geographic, and streams on up to three devices at once instead of Orange's one.

Orange carries 17 of the 45 channels we track for its $45.99/mo, roughly $2.71 per channel. Blue carries 27 of the same 45 for the same $45.99/mo, roughly $1.70 per channel, simply because Blue's lineup is wider. That gap is a side effect of channel count, not a sign either plan is a worse deal. It only matters if raw channel count is what you're optimizing for rather than whether your specific must-watch channels land on one tier or the other.

The 13 channels shared by both tiers cover most of the general-entertainment middle ground: A&E, AMC, BET, CNN, Cartoon Network, Comedy Central, Discovery Channel, Food Network, HGTV, HISTORY, Hallmark Channel, Lifetime, and TBS. If your household mostly watches from that shared list, either tier gets you there, and the real question becomes ESPN (Orange) versus Fox News and the NFL Network (Blue), not the shared channels themselves.

Neither tier carries local ABC/CBS/NBC/FOX/PBS affiliates in any market, and neither carries sports outside their own split (Orange has no FS1 or NFL Network, Blue has no ESPN). If locals or a fuller lineup matter more than the Orange/Blue tradeoff itself, see how antennas actually work or the broader Sling Orange vs YouTube TV comparison.

Who should actually pick which

Pick Sling Orange if

  • ESPN and ESPN2 are must-haves for your household
  • The Disney-owned channels (including Disney Channel) matter more than Fox News or the NFL Network
  • One stream at a time is enough for how your household actually watches

Pick Sling Blue if

  • Fox News, MSNBC, or CNBC are part of your regular watching
  • The NFL Network or FS1 matter more to you than ESPN
  • You want up to three simultaneous streams instead of one
  • truTV specifically is a must-have, since it's the one Turner network Orange doesn't carry

If neither one fits

Want ESPN and Fox News together, or need more than one stream plus the Disney channels? The combined Orange & Blue plan runs $60.99-$65.99/mo and covers everything both tiers carry, still less than most single full-lineup services. If your household's channel list splits unevenly across both tiers, check the channel you'd actually miss in the full channel finder, and see the complete household math on streaming vs cable cost before you commit to either plan.
